noopener\">Betsy Jolas<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (n\u00e9e le 5 ao\u00fbt 1926 \u00e0 Paris) est une compositrice franco-am\u00e9ricaine majeure de la musique contemporaine. Fille de l\u2019\u00e9crivain Eug\u00e8ne Jolas, elle grandit entre la France et les \u00c9tats-Unis avant de revenir \u00e0 Paris pour \u00e9tudier au Conservatoire, notamment aupr\u00e8s de <strong>Darius Milhaud<\/strong> et <strong>Olivier Messiaen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile is-image-fill-element\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>Son \u0153uvre, riche et vari\u00e9e, comprend musique de chambre, \u0153uvres vocales, pi\u00e8ces orchestrales et th\u00e9\u00e2tre musical. Elle est <strong>toujours en vie<\/strong> et demeure une figure essentielle de la cr\u00e9ation musicale contemporaine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Son \u0153uvre s&rsquo;\u00e9tendant sur plus de 70 ans, la pr\u00e9senter en un article est une gageure ! Mais je r\u00e9alise aujourd&rsquo;hui que cette vue d&rsquo;ensemble impressionnante m&rsquo;a consid\u00e9rablement aid\u00e9e \u00e0 comprendre le monde dans lequel je vis aujourd&rsquo;hui, pr\u00e8s d&rsquo;un si\u00e8cle plus tard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour parler principalement de musique, \u00e0 96 ans, je suis pratiquement la derni\u00e8re de ma g\u00e9n\u00e9ration, puisque la plupart de mes grands coll\u00e8gues ont malheureusement quitt\u00e9 ce monde. J&rsquo;ai eu la chance de bien conna\u00eetre personnellement bon nombre d&rsquo;entre eux et je suis aujourd&rsquo;hui constamment sollicit\u00e9e pour \u00ab t\u00e9moigner \u00bb des mouvements musicaux d\u00e9sormais historiques que beaucoup d&rsquo;entre eux repr\u00e9sentent. Et bien s\u00fbr, j&rsquo;accepte toujours cette t\u00e2che, car j&rsquo;ai suivi ces tendances avec beaucoup d&rsquo;int\u00e9r\u00eat, guid\u00e9e comme d&rsquo;habitude par ma curiosit\u00e9 naturelle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bien que je ne sois jamais devenue disciple d&rsquo;aucun d&rsquo;entre eux, la vieillesse n&rsquo;a heureusement pas diminu\u00e9 ma curiosit\u00e9 et m&rsquo;aide encore aujourd&rsquo;hui \u00e0 \u00e9valuer la situation. J&rsquo;ai ainsi remarqu\u00e9 ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es que l&rsquo;attention que la plupart des gens accordent \u00e0 la musique a consid\u00e9rablement diminu\u00e9e, pour atteindre \u00e0 peine 10 secondes. Cette observation se refl\u00e8te dans une grande partie de ma musique, mais seulement, comme d&rsquo;habitude, apr\u00e8s avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 pass\u00e9e par ce que j&rsquo;appelle mon \u00ab filtre personnel \u00bb. J&rsquo;aime ensuite trouver un titre suggestif pour aider l&rsquo;auditeur \u00e0 trouver son chemin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>J&rsquo;ai suivi cette direction aujourd&rsquo;hui en choisissant le titre de mon nouveau concerto pour piano et je suis consciente que la premi\u00e8re pr\u00e9vue au c\u00e9l\u00e8bre festival des Proms de Londres de 2022 (que je vais \u00e9galement d\u00e9couvrir) a eu une influence consid\u00e9rable sur cette qu\u00eate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le titre \u00ab\u00a0bTunes\u00a0\u00bb que j&rsquo;ai finalement choisi pour ce concerto est \u00e9videmment emprunt\u00e9, y compris l&rsquo;orthographe, au d\u00e9sormais quasi historique \u00ab iTunes \u00bb. Dans sa nouvelle version, o\u00f9 \u00ab b \u00bb signifie d\u00e9sormais Betsy, ce titre d\u00e9signe un recueil de courtes pi\u00e8ces \u00e9crites au fil des ans pour divers pianistes, dont bien s\u00fbr Nicolas Hodges.
