Formada en el Royal College of Music, desarrolla una carrera como int\u00e9rprete al tiempo que compone m\u00fasica de c\u00e1mara de gran intensidad. Su <em>Sonata para viola y piano<\/em> (1919) se convirti\u00f3 en su obra emblem\u00e1tica, admirada por su riqueza expresiva y su estilo que combina el impresionismo y el lirismo brit\u00e1nico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Entre el centenar de obras que compuso tambi\u00e9n figuran refinados lieder, piezas de m\u00fasica de c\u00e1mara y algunas obras orquestales.
